"The Mavericks are a band full of color. A band who create BIG, colorful music. A band with colorful personalities. For my love of POP Art and living in NY, it seemed appropriate to give a band piece of art something vibrant and saturated with solid blocks of color. Heavily under the influence of the NY artists Lichtenstein, Warhol and with the wonderful color sensibilities of Rothko, I used a hand painted stencil technique to create this piece entitled CORE FOUR. I wanted each individual portrait to capture something of each personality, directing the viewer to the focal point of the eyes by giving each member a different colored pair of sunglasses.
